Kiambu County Assembly Speaker Gathii Irungu has called for unity among both elected and nominated leaders in the county saying it is critical for the realisation of development goals.
In an address to the Kiambu County Assembly on Thursday, Irungu urged politicians and leaders from the county to shelve their differences and work together.
The Kiambu assembly speaker said that continued tag of wars pitting a section of leaders has tainted the image of the county.
“We as leaders elected by the people must learn how to work in unity and tolerate each other views,” he said.
Irungu said that Kiambu will be able to register development if there is unity among the leaders.
The assembly speaker also asked politicians to spearhead unity and peace among the people. He also warned against hate mongering saying it would sink the country into disharmony.
On the same note, the speaker urged ward representatives to formulate Bills and Motions based on the problems facing the people.
He said that the major role of the MCAs at the county is to formulate laws that will accelerate service delivery.
