A number of fans from Kibera were happy with the newly elected Football Kenya Federation (FKF) officials.
The residents hope that the new leaders will help promote upcoming sports talents from the area.
The fans, led by Wycliffe Atandi, said that the election process was free and fair and no one should doubt the exercise.
"FKF in the past has had a lot of challenges under Sam Nyamweya. I believe the newly elected chairman Nick Mwendwa will meet the dreams of many Kenyan youths who are talented widely in the sporting activities,’’ said Atandi.
‘‘As Kibera fans, we do not expect to hear any misleading statements from the old officials led by Sam Nyamweya accusing the new officials in any way, respect must prevail,’’ said Wilfred Osoro, another fan.
"The new officials should focus on improving the Kenyan League as well as Kenyan clubs at all levels to make Kenyan talents on top like other countries such as Nigeria, Portugal, Ivory coast among other countries,’’ stated Michael Mogaka, a fan.
Mwendwa replaces Sam Nyamweya in the FKF presidency after winning his opponent, Gor Mahia chairman, Ambrose Rachier by 23 votes.
