Kikuyu OCPD Matune Maweu has asked residents to report crime incidents to the police for immediate action.
Speaking in Kikuyu town on Wednesday, Maweu said some cases of crime were not being reported making it difficult for the police to act on them.
He said for proper security surveillance, residents must report all cases of crime.
The OCPD also asked the residnts to collaborate with the police as they together fight crime.
He said police have taken several steps to ensure security of the residents and their property.
The police boss said his officers will act tough on criminals, warning those planning to cause havoc to think twice.
“We have put in place adequate security measures to make sure that every citizen is protected,” he said.
Maweu urged residents to be vigilant and immediately report cases of crime and lawlessness.
He said police officers will be patrolling estates and villages on a 24-hour basis.
At the same time, the OCPD has cautioned residents against over indulging in alcohol this festive season.
Maweu said tht police will not hesitate to arrest anyone found contravening the law because of drunkenness.
He also warned bar operators against flouting the ‘Mututho laws’ this festive season.
“We know its festive season and some bar outlets may be tempted to contravene the law in order to make more sells such outs will be immediately closed once we pounce on them,” he warned.
On Monday, Kiambu County Commissioner Alex ole Nkoyo who held a meeting with security officials said that every mechanism has been put in place to provide security of citizens this festive season.
