Kisii deputy governor Joash Maangi was on Friday evening allegedly booed by angry youth in Kisii town after he was given a chance by the CORD co-principal Raila Odinga to address members of the public.

Drama unfolded when Raila who was on his way from Nyabururu National School after attending a burial service of  St. Joseph's Nyabigena Principal, the late Joseph Obare Oseko handed over the micro-phone to Maangi whose speech was interrupted by chants making him to cut short his speech much to the disbelief of Odinga and those in his entourage.

A visibly disturbed Maangi retreated to his car under tight security as Odinga proceeded to invite other leaders in his entourage to address the public.

This comes after Maangi who is also the chairman of the Deputy Governors' Forum allegedly led a delegation of Gusii politicians and opinion leaders to the Deputy President Willam Ruto's Sugoi home on Thursday in Eldoret.

The trip whose agenda for the Gusii Community is yet to be made clear has elicited condemnation from Gusii leaders and residents who have questioned the timing of the trip which did not involve all leaders from the community.

Those who shouted down Maangi accused him of handpicking political brokers in the name of Gusii leaders to allegedly go for handouts in exchange with the Gusii community voting bloc to the newly-formed Jubilee Party on whose ticket President Uhru Kenyatta and his deputy Ruto will be seeking their re-election for a second term.
