The Kisii and Kipsigis community members living along the Borabu-Sotik border have been urged to live in peace and harmony as the country heads to the 2017 general elections.
The Supreme Council chairman of the Abagusii Culture and Development Council(ACDC), retired senior chief, James Matundura, has underscored the importance of members from the two communities, embracing peaceful co-existence before and after the forthcoming general elections.
Speaking to reporters in Kisii town, Matundura disclosed that he accompanied members of the delegation to William Ruto's Sugoi home to assure the deputy president that members of the Kisii community had reconciled with their Kipsigis neighbours along the Borabu-Sotik common border and will continue co-existing peacefully.
Matundura called on the members from the two communities to respect the peace accord signed by the two sides in 2013 at Chepilat in the presence of the now president, Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy, Ruto, to ensure no more tribal clashes will be reported along the border.
Matundura said the delegation to Ruto's home should be looked at from the positive aspects and ensure it is not politicised to ensure the two communities continue living in peace and harmony to avert future tribal clashes.
