A section of Kisii leaders have reaffirmed their support for Jubilee government and accused opposition coalition of sabotaging development.

Speaking at Gusii stadium on Sunday during a fundraiser, the leaders led by Nyaribari Chache MP Richard Tong’i vowed to support the government and fight for its reelection in 2017.

They hailed President Uhuru Kenyatta’s regime on support on infrastructure, business, electricity and accessible quality education and predicted a convincing victory against CORD in 2017 polls based on the government’s track record.

“As leaders from Kisii, I don’t see any reason to oppose Jubilee government. We have seen incredible performance by the government in supporting education, infrastructure, business and education. CORD is always politicizing development making it difficult for the government but that hasn’t deterred the government. I am sure 2017 will be a routine victory,” he said.

His Bobasi counterpart urged Stephen Manoti urged leaders affiliated to CORD to decamp arguing that the region needed to be in government to spearhead development in the region.

“I have always supported Jubilee and the ground is now favoring me. We have seen a lot of work in terms of infrastructure and its time for our brothers in CORD to join us. Despite our allegiance to opposition, the government has never forsaken us and this is the time to repay it by supporting it in 2017,” he said.

Deputy Governor Joash Maangi who has been facing criticism from ODM supporters on his close ties with Jubilee skipped discussing politics and urged the government to concentrate on improving the livelihood of people.

“As leaders, we have an obligation to initiate developments for our people at the grassroots. Elections will come and go. Our people will vote based on what someone has done to improve their living standards,” he said.

Mr. Ruto on his side urged the leaders to join the JAP saying it offered opportunities to all communities and warned of parties warming for post-election pacts.

“You have fantastic opportunity to join the winning camp and that is JAP. We are not going to allow case where people come requesting for post-election pacts. We must fight as a team and win,” he said.
