The national government has given Sh725 million for the upgrading of the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital as one way of improving health services in the county.

Deputy President William Ruto Sunday said the national government has given out the amount for the facility's upgradeso that it can offer better services to county residents and those of the neighbouring counties.

“As the national government, we are devoted to making sure that health services are improved across the country and that is why we have given out such amount to Kisii Referral and Teaching Hospital as one way of improving its services delivery,” said the Deputy President.

In addition, he added that the referral hospital will help residents from other counties who will seek services from the facility.

The Deputy President also said the government has given out a similar amount for the upgrade of Gucha District Hospital.

Ruto was addressing residents at Gusii stadium during the consecration of Southern Nyanza Anglican diocese bishop, John Orina.
