Residents from Kisii County have been advised to maintain hygiene in their homesteads and their surrounding environment as one way of keeping themselves healthy.

According to the community clinical officer, Kepha King’oina, most of the families are affected by diseases due to lack of hygiene in their homes and their residential places.

King’oina who was speaking on Wednesday at Mwembe Kisii town challenged residents to embrace hygiene in the homes as one of maintaining health in their life.

''My advice to residents is that let they should embrace proper hygiene in their homes so that we can avoid getting diseases that come as a result of poor hygiene,'' said Kingoina.

He also said that during rain season there is an outbreak of diseases which comes as a result of poor hygiene which affects many people without knowing where it comes from.

''As we are experiencing heavy rains, we expect the outbreak of diseases, hence, it will be good if we protect ourselves from such,'' added King’oina.

In addition, he cautioned those who do not take heed advice given by the Ministry of Health.

''There are some important precautions that we are given from the Ministry of Health that we need to follow seriously so that we can  help ourselves,'' he said.
