Traders selling shoe repair glue to street boys in Kisii town have been put on notice that they risk being arrested and prosecuted by the government.
The Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) Kisii County chairman Benjamin Onkoba has warned traders selling glue to the street boys that they will be blacklisted and have the Kisii County government revoke their trading licenses if they will not stop the illegal trade which he said endangered lives of children.
Speaking to Tuesday afternoon in Kisii town, Onkoba said it was wrong for the traders who know the dangers posed by the glue to human health to sell the same to street boys whose lives are vulnerable.
He threatened to push for arrest and prosecution of the traders in question since their trading licenses issued by the Kisii County government does not indicate that they sell the glue to under age children whom they practically know do not engage in shoe repair business.
"It is illegal for the shoe repair and accessories traders to sell the dangerous glue to under age children, particularly street boys yet they know such children do not have business dealing with glue," said Onkoba.
