Kisii University staff have been warned against taking part in students' ongoing election campaigns.

Following a message from the dean of students office on Friday, any staff who will be found guilty is will face disciplinary action.

The assistant dean of students Francis Kerongo said: "We acknowledge the sovereignty and independence of students in determining their leaders through a democratic process. Staff members are thus advised to keep off students politics and campaigns, as any form of interference will be dealt with severely."

Candidates for various posts were vetted and a full list of successful contestants was posted on Friday by the university's electoral commission chaired by Dr Christopher Ngacho.

They were urged to conduct a peaceful, free and fair campaign until the elections date which is set for November 6. 

"The management takes this earliest opportunity to wish all students and especially contestants a peaceful electioneering period as guided by our constitution," said Kerongo.
