An MCA has ruled out possibilities of supporting Governor Jack Ranguma’s re-election in 2017.

Milimani Ward Representative Edwin Anayo said he has opposed Ranguma before, and will not support him due to what termed the governor's non-performance.

Mr Anayo on Saturday said he is weighing options between two other gubernatorial contestants; Senator Anyang Nyong’o and Ogra Foundation boss Dr Hezron M’Cobewa.

He expressed confidence that Ranguma will not be re-elected saying he has lost grip of the people’s support both in the urban and rural areas.

“Ranguma has disappointed Kisumu residents and has no clear project that he can point out to have delivered to the people. Some people have been complaining that I am fighting him, but I am doing my job as a member of the County Assembly,” said Anayo.

He added: “My roles as an MCA are to represent my people, to legislate and to keep check on the executive, and that is why I will not stop at anything if I feel the executive is not doing enough. As an MCA I have no funds to do projects for my people, as the role lies with the governor and I have not seen as much as we expected.”

Anayo who has since bowed out of politics has however, indicated that he will be in the forefront to campaign and support quality leaders both at the ward and the county levels.

Nyong’o and M’Cobewa have come out as Ranguma’s main challengers, and political realignments will be taking shape as the two hit the ground to try to displace the incumbent from the position.
