Kisumu Senator Anyang Nyong'o has asked residents to go for cancer screening to know their health status.

Nyong'o said cancer is the current leading killer in the country and the entire world. He said that early detection is the only solution for faster treatment.

The senator said that Western Kenya region is leading with the highest number of cervical cancer cases.

He added that Nyeri and its surrounding areas lead in breast cancer. The senator said that since the beginning of the Africa Cancer Foundation, more than 13,000 have been screened and out of the number, 15% had the disease.

Nyong’o asked all women to go for breast cancer screening, all men over 30 years to go for prostate cancer screening and all women above 18 years to go for cervical cancer screening.

He was speaking when he attended a church fundraiser at St Stephens Catherdal ACK in Kisumu.
