Following recent false information being peddled on the Jomo Kenyatta Sports Ground, the county government invited relevant stakeholders in an endeavour to clear the air.
Speaking to the stakeholders in his office at Prosperity House on Thursday morning, the County Secretary, Humphrey Nakitare, told the traders that the county government is mandated by the Kenyan law to carry out development with the aim of creating a conducive and enabling business environment that will benefit all and sundry.
“We have incorporated the businessmen in the renovation of the sports ground that is set to begin in January 2016. There’s no cause for alarm as the grounds haven’t been sold as earlier claimed by a section of the media,” added Nakitare.
The stakeholders can now breathe a sigh of relief due to the cordial discussions between them and the county government and a committee, comprising the stakeholders, was formed so as to co-ordinate the renovation of the said grounds.
“Let us give the county government of Kisumu a chance to work. It is high time that we stop too much politicking for our county to develop,” said Dennis Magak, a trader at the sports ground.
The renovation of the sports ground will be done in phases and will enable the traders carry on with their business uninterrupted.
