Residents of Kondele in Kisumu were a disappointed lot after Prophet David Owuor of Repentance and Holiness Ministry failed to make a stopover to pray for them.

Prophet Owuor was on his way to Kibos grounds Thursday morning where he was to lead the congregation of his church into prayers to usher in the new year- 2016.

Locals started lining up along the road as early as 8am to have a glimpse of the man of God.

At 12 noon, his convoy comprising of several cars passed with heavy security failing to make a stopover at Kondele.

James Maina, a resident, said Kondele has a 'bad name' and they expected the Prophet to make a stopover and pray for the residents.

“From the post election violence, Kondele has never been the same, we wanted Prophet Owuor to pray for this area and bless the people doing businesses here,” he said.

Another resident, Benson Michura, said they were disappointed after failing to see the Prophet.

Michura said a man of God should not pass people without greetings and blessings.

“When Pope Francis visited Kenya, he was driven in an open vehicle and everybody was seeing him. Now Prophet Owuor is not ready to meet the children of God who have sacrificed since morning to wait for him,” he said.

Prophet Owuor will be in Kisumu up to January 2 where he will meet bishops and pastors from other denominations at Kenyatta Sports Ground.
