Police in Nakuru have denied any involvement in the abduction of two young investors in the town.
Nakuru OCPD Musa Kongoli said there is no evidence linking his officers to the Friday abduction of Joseph Chege and Simon Wachira at Whitehouse Estate in Nakuru.
Speaking Tuesday in Nakuru town, Kongoli said just because the abductors were armed does not mean they were police officers.
“People are saying they saw the abductors brandishing guns and that is why they say they were police officers but that is not the case because anybody can brandish a gun,” the police boss said.
“We are working day and night to arrest the abductors and find the abductees but people must stop making stories they can’t prove,” he added.
He said they are following possible leads that would lead to the arrest of the criminals.
Chege and Wachira were abducted on Friday by unknown people in Whitehouse as they were driving towards town, and there whereabouts remain unknown till now.
The abduction sparked protest from matatu drivers and touts along the Nakuru-Whitehouse-Subukia route on Monday.
