Residents of Kuresoi South have called on the government to deploy more security agents at the Ol Posmoru Olenguruone border.
They say that they fear attack from the neighbouring Narok County that has experienced tribal clashes in the past few days.
They say that the rate at which displaced families were flocking the area was worrying and are now concerned especially after disturbing reports emerged on Sunday that Morans were planning a retaliatory attack to their neighbours who had pitched camp at the Olenguruone primary school.
“We are not taking anything for granted because welcoming them here has not been taken lightly by some of the attackers who we hear are coming for them, we are not safe here,” noted Mzee Lagat Arap Ng’eno, a village elder.
He said that as days went by, tension in the area was growing by day something that has impacted negatively on the residents day to day activities not knowing what might happen next.
“Like yesterday, more than 60 Morans were at Tegat en route here to discipline those that burnt down there houses, if it were not for the emergency security meeting converged by Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery, we could be talking another story now, how do you expect us to be safe?” he wondered.
Narok County Commissioner Magu Mutindika assured the neighbouring communities of their security, saying that everything was in place in ensuring that the skirmishes do not spill out to the neighbouring villages.
