Gatundu South MP has urged Kenyan communities to live in harmony by putting aside their tribal and religious differences.

Speaking at Kenyenya SDA Church in Kisii on Thursday when he offered to complete the renovation of the church to the tune of Sh2 million, Kuria blamed Kenyans on social media for always making him "look a bad guy".

“Our country has come from far and whoever who incites community against another should not be entertained. I know people have been mistaking me for that, but those are rumour mongers in the social media. I stand to support integration among the Kenyan communities and that is my mission,” he said.

He defended his relationship with Cord leader Raila Odinga, describing him as ‘on of the finest leaders’ Kenya has had.

“Sometimes the media makes me look to be attacking Jakom (Raila Odinga) but that’s not the case. He is one of the finest leaders in the history of Kenya and I stand to be corrected. We must work together as a community and prevent any tribal animosity,” he said.

Kuria called for reduced political temperatures urging leaders from both sides of the divide to tread carefully when engaging with citizens.

“And I want to urge all politicians to reduce political heat and work with church leaders to preach peace. That is the most important thing for our people now,” he said.
