Outspoken Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has caught his critics by surprise by urging Kenyans to live in harmony by putting aside their tribal and religious differences.

Kuria has been a regular visitor both at the CID headquarters and the National Cohesion and Integration Commission offices to record statements over alleged incitements in the recent past.

Speaking at Kenyenya SDA in Kisii on Thursday when he offered to complete renovation of a local church by dishing out Sh2 million, Kuria blamed Kenyans on social media for always making him ‘look like a bad guy”.

“Our country has come from far and whoever incites communities against each another should not be entertained. I know people have been mistaking me for that but those are rumour mongers on social media. I stand to support integration among the Kenyan communities and that is my mission,” he said.

He defended his relationship with Opposition chief Raila Odinga, terming him ‘the finest leader’ Kenyan has ever had in the recent past.

“Sometimes media makes me look like I am attacking Jakom (Odinga) but that’s not the case. He is one of the finest leaders in the history of Kenya and I stand to be corrected. We must work together as a community and prevent any tribal animosity,” he said.

Kuria called for reduced political temperatures, urging leaders from both sides (Jubilee and Cord) of the political divide to tread carefully when engaging with citizens.

“And I want to urge all politicians to cool the political heat and work with church leaders in preaching peace. That is the most important thing for our people now,” he said.
