Nakuru youths have been called upon to boldly give their views on what should be included in the Youth Policy Law because it will have a direct impact on their future, and other generations to come.
In a youths consultative meeting on Thursday organised by the Kenya Young Parliamentarians Association (KYPA) in collaboration with the National Democratic Institute (NDI) at a Nakuru hotel, young people were given a green light of what to offer once the view collection committee pitches camps in their respective locations.
Gilford Kimathi, officer in charge of the youth agenda at the association asked the youths, a majority of whom hope to vie for political positions in future, to make informed decisions that will not affect future generations.
"Ours is to offer young leadership skills and mentorship through linkages at both the county and national levels to help drive youths agenda. The decision to choose what you think is good for you or not is up to you, but make a choice that will not affect you in future," he said.
KYPA was formed in 2004 with the aim of bringing together MPs below 45 years and is committed to seeing the youth empowered and able to participate in shaping laws and policies that affect their future.
The county recently launched a views collecting drive as it tries to formulate a youth policy that will offer a good working policy between the two parties.
