Residents of Mareroni in Lanet ward have expressed their concern over what they termed as failure of police officers to curb crime.
They have threatened to hold peaceful demonstrations to have their pleas heard.
This comes after a middle aged woman’s body was found dumped on the road side in the area Monday morning.
The mutilated body was discovered buy passers-by who suspected that the murder was done elsewhere before the body was deposited there.
“At first we thought that she was a drunkard but moving closer, we noticed that some body parts were missing. There was no blood stains at the scene meaning that the murder was not done here,” noted Elijah Karanja, a resident.
The residents are now calling on police to intensify night patrols, saying that the area has been subjected to different robberies in the recent days with the main targets being business persons at the shopping centre.
“We are living in total fear because we don’t know the motive behind such a killing. We are tired of being attacked at our business premises as if we have no security,” noted Jane Njeri, whose M-Pesa shop was raided last week as she was closing.
Area police boss Wallace Ngure called for patience as police launch investigations into the incidents, further calling on the residents to give leads that will facilitate arrests.
“We want the residents to embrace community policing because we officers cannot be physically available at every crime scene, if you know the people behind these criminal activities, come talk to us privately and we will use all means possible to deal with the suspects,” he said.
The body was transferred to the Bahati District Hospital morgue awaiting a post mortem to ascertain the cause of her death.
