Residents of Nyangoma/Masogo ward in Muhoroni constituency have announced that they will clinch the Sh1 million prize money for the highest voter registration turn out.

Governor Jack Ranguma recently promised to give the money to any ward in the county that will register the highest number of voters.

Nyangoma/Masogo ward ODM chairman John Onyango said they are geared to lead in the exercise and pick the money.

“Governor Rnguma has a tournament where the ward winner will go away with Sh1 million. The tournament is all about registering for votes. We have met and decided to mobilise people to turn out and register as voters when the exercise kicks off on Monday,” he said.

Onyango said they have mobilised the locals and come Monday when the exercise begins they will register in large numbers.

He said they will also target students in high school who have attained the mandatory age of 18 to be able to register for ID cards.

Speaking to the press in Muhoroni constituency on Friday after a party officials meeting, former councilor Camlus Odol who is an official in the ward said those who were elected should be respected.

Odol said Muhoroni constituency had party issues in the past and saw most of its political leaders elected on a PDP ticket.

He said those who were elected at the ODM party grassroots in the recent elections should be left alone to build the party.

“It is here in Muhoroni where we only have one MCA who was elected on an ODM party ticket, the rest including our MP went through PDP ticket. This happens because of the bungled nominations,” he said.
