Limuru OCPD Mohammed Bakuli has asked local chiefs in the sub-county to crack the whip on people who are re-introducing illicit brews and second generation alcoholic drinks.

Speaking at Limuru Town on Sunday, Bakuli noted with concerns re-emergence of illicit brews in some parts of Limuru.

The OCPD said that police are working on information that some people could have resulted back to brewing and selling of illegal alcohol.  Bakuli warned that illicit brewing will not be tolerated saying that those engaging in the illegal business will be dealt with.

“We will not allow re-emergence of illicit brews and second generation alcohol into Limuru,” he said.

He asked police to be on the lookout and deal with suspected brewers. He said that swoops will be conducted to ensure that the area is free of illicit brews.

Bakuli also warned the youths against indulging in alcohol and drug abuse. He observed rising cases where young people are lured into drinking.

He has appealed to resident’s to share intelligence with the police in efforts to boost security. Bakuli told residents to feel free and give  information  to law enforcers that will aid in arrest of suspected criminals and other law breakers.

Bakuli said that police in the area have stepped up security  measures including patrols and surveillance and assured residents of their safety this festive season
