The Lions Club Nakuru branch will engage in a month long exercise that will see members of the club visit different orphanages, children's homes, special schools and slum areas donating foodstuffs and other basic human amenities as the club officially rolls out its 2016 community service plan.

Speaking while presenting their donations including clothing, foodstuffs, books and drug consignments worth Kshs. 250, 000 to the Nakuru county government on Saturday at their offices, club president Lion Yashvi Shah expressed confidence in the exercise saying that their ultimate goal was to ensure children from all walks of life get at least all the basic needs that will make them live a comfortable life.

He noted that the club’s commitment was elevating the living conditions of the less fortunate in the society using available resources.

“We want to formulate a mechanism together with the Kinuthia Foundation in ensuring that we become sister institutions because our activities are the same,” he said.

Lions clubs international was formed in 1917 to strengthen communities through humanitarian projects and hands on service that involves volunteers and social workers.

“Lions help where help is needed around our communities and the world with unmatched integrity and energy. We are always committed to fulfilling everything we start,” he added.

The donations will be distributed to different special schools in all the sub counties in coordination with the county’s education ministry.
