The Centre for Enhancing Democracy and Good Governance (CEDGG) has presented a petition to Nakuru County government over allegation of misuse of public funds.
Presenting the petition on Tuesday before Nakuru County governor, Mr Paul Masses the CEO of the lobby group alleged there has been misuse of taxpayers funds by county officials.
“We have evidence that taxpayers money was misused by county officers,” said Masses.
The petition comes at a time when Kinuthia Mbugua has been on the spot since the release of the report by the Auditor General, which revealed massive embezzlement of taxpayer’s funds by the county executives.
The report alleged that the county executives transferred Sh150 million to the County Assembly to cater for Members of the County Assembly car grant among other allegations.
Masses also questioned the financial operations of the Nakuru County Executive for the period of July 1, 2013 to June 2014.
“There was massive embezzlement of public funds in 2013 /14 financial year which needs to be addressed,” said Masses.
Masses urged the county officials to demonstrate transparency and accountability in allocation of public funds to avoid legal confrontations with residents.
He also called for thorough action to be taken to those mentioned in Auditor General's report.
“We want the county government to address the issues raised in the report to give Nakuru residents hope in the fight against corruption,” said Masses.
