This meaning of love, however, does not apply to students in various campuses in Kisii. Students here get into relationships as a way of investing! This might sound weird but it's true. At least, it has been confirmed by various sources.

Ladies are the most skilled in this act of getting into relationships to benefit financially. They will date older men who are working so that they can be showered with gifts and taken anywhere they want to. The man who does all this is referred to as a sponsor.

Female students as young a 19, look for old men who are already grumpy or married, which makes it worse, simply because he drives or has a lot of money to blow.

"I do not have enough cash to support myself and live lavishly so I date sugar daddies because they are easy to give money unlike dating my agemates who are broke and have nothing to offer unless it's their HELB loan," said Rosemary Maina, a student at Kisii University.

This trend has spread so fast that even lecturers are dating their students! This is also as a way of students passing classes without having to struggle like other students. This is clearly absurd. To make matters worse, the ladies will date more than 3 men at the same time, each man has a role in the lady's life.

But let's not bash ladies too much as men are also in this disturbing behaviour. Though the cases are minor, they will be seen hanging around older women, old enough to be their mothers in clubs and other public places. How on earth would you hang around out with an older spouse, way older than you? Isn't it uncomfortable?

Lack of upkeep money has led to this kind of lifestyle, not forgetting prostitution, that is at its pick in the streets of Kisii town operated by the young generation.
