Speaking at the County Assembly, Lowoi said the move is welcomed and will reduce wage bill and relieve tax payers.

"The President's move to cut travel allowances by 50 per cent is welcomed since a lot of money was being used for foreign trips that were not important adding burden to the tax payer," he said.

President Kenyatta on Thursday during a public address to the nation said that all civil servants, including cabinet secretaries, governors, MCAs and MPs will have their travelling allowances cut by half.
