Uasin Gishu County Assembly Speaker Isaac Terer on Tuesday refuted claims that the House had passed a motion to oust leader of Majority Josephat Lowoi.

Speaking at the county assembly, Terer said no member or party had presented a motion seeking the removal of Lowoi from office.

He urged the public to treat the matter as rumours aimed at tarnishing the name of the assembly.

"The reports that Uasin Gishu county assembly on Tuesday morning passed a motion of no confidence against the leader of majority on grounds of incompetence are false. Lowoi is still the leader of majority period," he said.

Terer said the statements are speculations meant to divide the House which has always been united.

"The whole of Tuesday we were having a consultative indoor meeting with the MCAs strategizing on how to improve service delivery to wananchi and not to oust leader of majority from office," he said.

The speaker said the leadership of the county assembly is intact and that no change of guard has been made whatsoever.

This comes after a section of the media reported that the county assembly had passed a motion of no confidence in the leader of majority and replaced him with Ngenyilel MCA David Singoei.
