For only Sh125 a day, Kenyans living in areas without electricity can now watch television.
This is now possible, thanks to M-KOPA, which has added yet another product to its range - the digital television.
The 16-inch digital flat screen TV has an in built decoder and 26 free to air channels.
It comes with a solar system which includes a 20W PV solar panel, a torch, phone charger, a radio and two lights.
This system can be purchased at a one off fee of Sh45,000 or a deposit of Sh7,900.
Since M-KOPA products are aimed to make life easier for households with a per capita income of less than Sh200 per day, it also has a package for people to pay Sh125 for a year.
Jesse Moore, the chief executive and co- founder at M-KOPA said on their website; “Delivering the promise of a better future for our customers is at the heart of what we do. It is great that customers with a responsible payment history can use their solar home systems to access practical products that help them get ahead.”
This is Kenya’s first solar powered television and it comes at a time when the country has been advocating for digital migration.
Now, homes that have no access to electricity can also join the rest of the country in the migration.
