Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi has said he will reach out to Kisii Senator Chris Obure and Bobasi MP Stephen Manoti in his bid to unite residents ahead of the 2017 elections.
Maangi said he will also incorporate leaders from the larger Gucha area in what is likely to be transformed into a Gucha Alliance.
"There is nothing wrong or suspicious about having residents and leaders from Gucha coming together and consult on issues affecting them as a community," he said.
Speaking on Saturday evening at Matongo 1 SDA Church of Giasaiga Sub-Location, in Bobasi Sub-County, Maangi disclosed that he will soon begin organising for public barazas in the company of the two.
"I will then be reaching out to other leaders from the region and ensure residents work in unity and consultations on various socio-economic and political issues affecting them," he added.
Maangi described Manoti and Obure as his close friends, saying that was the reason why he has decided to exploit their political experience to ensure residents they unite residents from the larger Gucha region to speak in one voice in 2017.
"Having unity of purpose among residents and leaders from Gucha will provide a platform for both leaders and residents to chart their future political destiny and exploit various socio-economic potentials in the region," he added.
During his speech, Maangi hinted that he was eyeing the seat of Kisii gubernatorial seat, though he did not disclose his gameplan, leaving the congregation guessing about his future political plans and his relationship with Governor James Ongwae who is seeking re-election in the forthcoming poll.
Manoti who was the host during a funds drive in aid of the church backed Maangi's sentiments that the people from the Gucha region and their leaders should work together and speak in one voice to ensure solutions to various challenges facing them are found.
