Nakuru security committee has urged Maasai and Kipsigis communities living near Logoman Forest in Njoro to solve their disputes amicably.
Speaking during a visit with the Nakuru security committee over the weekend, Governor Kinuthia told the residents that they should always consider consequences of revenge, a need which she says should encourage them to solve issues amicably.
“I know it is painful for someone to steal your property and especially livestock. But we should also consider the consequences of revenge. Residents should not gang up to go and try to retrieve livestock in such occurrences but should task the government through relevant authorities to do the same,” he advised.
The Nakuru county security committee led by the county commissioner Joshua Nkanatha and the Narok county commissioner had organised a security baraza in Chebitet following an incident earlier last week where a trader’s cows were stolen.
The 12 cows were reportedly found slaughtered in a forest.
Nkanatha tasked chiefs and their assistants to work closely through the areas’ Nyumba Kumi Initiative to help end livestock theft.
He noted that the two communities, having shared the borders have the capacity to sit down and sort their issues.
