The aged people in Machakos county have called upon their county government to fulfill their promise to offer financial assistance to them since most of them cannot work to earn their living.
They complained that the little they get from the national government which is usually approximately Kshs. 2, 000 is not enough to cater for their needs.
Speaking to the press outside Machakos governor Dr. Alfred Mutua's office, a representative of the old men and women who had arrived there on Monday early morning to air their grievances said that the county government has not been giving them enough despite the heaven promises made to them during the previous campaigns.
"Most of us have grown very weak due to advanced age and health conditions making us unable to work and earn like other people. The county government should support us because we still play an important role of guiding, counselling and assisting the younger ones in decision making since we are the most experienced with life in the society," said Mr. Martin Kivuva, a village elder.
They also said that better health care should also be provided to them since most of them facing illnesses and complications that come with old age.
