Members of parliament in Kangundo and Matungulu Sub-Counties have been urged to utilise Constituency Development Funds (CDF) for the benefit of students in the area.
Speaking during a public meeting in Kangundo on Monday, Rose Wambua, a politician, said the funds should be used to provide learning facilities to the local schools in a bid to improve education standards in the region.
Wambua said most of the public schools in the region lack facilities such as classrooms, books, and laboratory equipments.
"Sciences are among the worst performed subjects especially in secondary schools. The major contributing factor is that the schools lack laboratory equipments, and therefore the students do not get the chance to do experiments, making them unable to perform well during practical exams," said Wambua.
Wambua also faulted the Machakos County government for not completing projects, thus making them unbeneficial to the residents.
She urged the Members of parliament to give schools priority when issuing CDF funds.
