Matungulu sub-county residents have been warned against taking the law into their hands.
The warning was issued by the Matungulu OCPD, Joseph Chesire after residents lynched three suspected thieves to death. According to Chesire, the suspects had broken into several shops at Joska along the Nairobi-Kangundo road very early in the morning before residents realised and descended on them where they set ablaze three of them and five others escaped.
"I got information some thieves had been lynched at Joska area. When I arrived, it was already too late as residents had already stoned them to death, however, five of them managed to escape,’’ said Chesire.
This comes barely three weeks after another man, who was also a suspect in a different incident was set ablaze.
Chesire warned residents against solving such matters personally. He urged them to instead hand the culprits over to the police.
The three deceased were taken to city mortuary as investigations are set to begin.
