Boda boda riders in Maili Sita, Bahati constituency are planning to roll out a drive to sensitise residents to come out and register as voters ahead of the 2017 elections.

The riders said they will move from village to village and house to house in Kiamaina ward to urge residents to take the voters cards.

Speaking Sunday, Maili Sita Boda boda Riders Association chairman Daniel Wachira said they want to ensure that majority of voters in the ward get registered in time.

"We as boda boda operators will use our motorbikes to move from house to house and get people to register as voters. We will be telling them the importance of registering as voters and the importance of voting,"said Wachira.

He added that they will divide the riders into two groups so that they can cover as many villages as possible.

"We are going to split into two groups and we will take two or three days to move around in a convoy every week until the registration process is over,"he said.

Wachira called on Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri to support the initiative because it is a positive one.

"We want pur MP to support us because he has been calling for such initiatives and if he comes on board we Will feel boosted,"he said.
