Residents of Makwa town have been asked to embrace monthly water bills payment through M-pesa services to avoid long queues at the water supply company.

According to Raphael Karanja , Makwa water project manager who was speaking on Tuesday in Makwa, the water project will soon bill every water consumer through their mobile phones to save on time and distance traveled to the projects office wasting some client’s time.

"The company will also further improve its supply services upon completion of the second phase of water supply - addition and development of the Chania water project which we expect to be completed by July this year," he said.

He observed that more funds facilitation is required to mitigate the perennial water shortage in Makwa that according to him affects area residents especially in January.

Karanja noted that the project has been approved by Kenya Bureau of Standards authorizing them to offer water services after an ISO certificate was issued to the project in late December 2015.
