A man was Tuesday arraigned before a Nakuru court for allegedly assaulting four men and causing them actual body harms.
Ezekiel Kamau, with others, was accused of allegedly assaulting Francis Mburu, Robert Koech, Simon Mutua and Charles Mwaniki and causing injuries on their faces and head on the January 1, 2016 at Munanda trading centre in Gilgil sub county.
According to police reports, Kamau entered into a bar with one other person at around 7:30pm and found the complainants who were having drinks, he started beating them up using a broken bottles.
Upon intervention by other citizens who were at the bar, he fled.
The complainant later went to Elementaita Police station and recorded statements on the incident before seeking medical assistance at Gilgil sub district hospital.
The police kick off man hunt for the suspect and later arrested him and charged him with assault.
Appearing before Senior Principle Magistrate Nyakundi Maroro, Kamau pleaded not guilty and claimed that he was not the one who beat them but instead he helped restrain the fight.
“I was not the one who attacked them in the bar, in fact I was outside and heard noise and sound of broken glasses so I entered the bar and restrain them,” he said
Magistrate Maroro ordered that the accused be released on a surety bond of Sh20,000 with an alternative cash bail of the same amount.
The case will be heard on February 10, 2016.
