A 30 year old man was arraigned before a Nakuru court on Friday for causing disturbance in a manner likely to breach peace by threatening his mother.

Boniface Muthaura was accused of allegedly threatening his mother, Muthoni Kamau, using a bow and arrows on October 25, 2015 at Kikapu village in Njoro, Nakuru County.

According to the prosecution, Muthaura came home at around 6pm while drunk and started to demand for Muthoni's identification card which she declined to give out.

Muthoni told him that she could not give him her card when he is drunk because it might get lost but he got mad and started to shout at her.

He went into the house and came back with a bow and arrows which he pointed at her, threatening to pull at her if she didn't give him the card.

Muthoni screamed and she ran towards her neighbors' compound.

The neighbours intervened and Muthoni went to report the matter to the police.

The accused was later arrested and taken to Njoro Police station where was charged with causing disturbance and threatening his mother.

Appearing before Senior Principal Magistrate Liz Gicheha, he pleaded not guilty and was released on a surety bond of Sh10,000 with an alternative cash bail of Sh5,000.

The case will be heard on January 12, 2016.
