A man who attempted to erect a structure in a piece of land belonging to the Kenya railway cooperation has been charged in a Nakuru court. Peter Njoroge appeared before senior principal magistrate Liz Gicheha to answer to the charges of trespassing.
According to the prosecution, the accused alongside his accomplices not before the court were caught on the night of September 12 in London estate trying to build a structure which was believed to be a food kiosk.
The prosecution further alleged to have recovered four bags of cement, four metal bars and a carton of nails which the accused and his colleagues allegedly wanted to use in the construction exercise. The accused however pleaded not guilty to the offence and told the court that the said items were being ferried to his home and that he was not putting up a structure as the prosecution alleged.
"The building materials the prosecutor is talking about were actually being transferred to my house; in fact I have never entertained the idea of food hawking ," he said.
He was released on a cash bond of Kshs. 2, 000 pending a hearing of the case on November 6.
