A 27-year-old man was on Thursday jailed for 15 months after being found guilty of stealing a car tyre.
Kassim Oyoo was sentenced after pleading guilty to the charges before Kisumu Principal Magistrate Thomas Obutu for the offence he committed on February 3, 2016.
According to the prosecution, Mr Oyoo stole the tyre from a car washing bay in Kisumu town.
Oyoo however, told the court that he stole the tyre because he needed the money to buy medicine for his ailing son.
He shifted the blame to his employer for not paying him enough cash as salary.
"Your honour my son was sick and I thought taking the tyre would help me raise the money. If only my employer was paying enough money, I would have not stolen," said Oyoo.
Oyoo pleaded with the court to forgive.
Obutu in his ruling, said the accused must serve time behind bars as a lesson to other culprits with the same behaviour.
