Police in Thika on Wednesday retrieved the body of an unknown man which was hanged at a roadside kiosk in Makongeni.

School children who were walking to school saw the body and called the chief before he informed the police.

According to Thika OCPD Erastus Muthamia, the body had deep cuts on the neck, arms and legs. He added that the man might have been murdered elsewhere and dumped at the site overnight.

Muthamia told the press at the scene that the incident is a rare occurrence in the area. He said they will seek the one who committed the crime.

"Let’s cooperate and end insecurity in Thika. We are probing this and we are sure to identify the suspects," he assured.

Members of the public from the area have not yet identified the deceased. Police are calling on anyone who has lost a relative to report to the police to help with investigations.

He has further called on the residents not to relent on the security issue despite the incident.

The body was taken to the General Kago Funeral Home in Thika Town.
