Manual sewing in Kilugha village, Uasin-Gishu county is not only a talent but a revenue generating activity. Mrs. Irene Rono, a participant in the activity says that she has been boosting her revenue through manual sewing. She majors mostly on making sofaset linen.
"This is a part- time income earning activity apart as i also engage in other farming activities," she reported.
According to her, one set which takes a duration of 3 weeks for its completion earns her a profit of Kshs. 4, 000 which is enough for household expenditure.
Mrs. Rono has been participating in the activity for the past 3 years as source of extra income as she waits for her crops to be harvested.
Most of her customers are residents in the area therefore her products have a ready market.
