48 hours after the Ruiru traders woke up to their wooden market stalls burnt to ashes, Juja sub-county traders have become the victims. On Sunday morning, the traders woke up and found their stalls at Murera and Kenyatta road burnt down. The residents had no choice but to watch as there was nothing to collect with the remains being ashes.

Juja township ward MCA Samuel Kitata arrived at the scene to console the traders and told them that they should remain calm as the leaders unite and investigate who is behind the demolitions and burning of stalls in the area.

The traders are accusing the county government of harassment saying that they have been loyal to them by paying levies despite the hikes but instead of initiating new development project for them they are demolishing their stalls and burning down their property.

Led by the chairlady of the Juja Hawkers Welfare Mrs. Ann Kiraka, the traders have vowed to avenge their lost stock by absconding from paying the levies until they are compensated for their losses. Mrs. Kiraka said that they had not prior notice of the demolition.
