Maseno chief Nicholus Toro on Tuesday cautioned recurrent illicit brew brewers against indulging in the illegal business.
Speaking in Maseno during a fundraiser in Nyawita, Toro warned the recurrent brewers saying they would face adverse consequences if they were caught.
He advised the residents to indulge in legal business to enhance their livelihoods saying there are many untapped opportunities such as farming that the residents are not taking into consideration.
“We know those who are still indulging in the vice, we are catching up with you and it’s just a matter of time. Don’t be found on the wrong side for you will face the full law,” warned Toro.
“These are some of the things that are derailing our economy. We can’t move on since our children are trapped in these brews. It’s upon us to take action to save our children and county,” he added.
He called upon the residents to be vigilant and report such cases whenever they crop up.
“We all have a duty to play in ending this illicit brewing once and for all. Let us work together to ensure we have a productive healthy society,” said Toro.
Locals promised to work hand in hand with the chief in curbing illicit brew.
“We will work with you in giving relevant information about these brewers who have been a problem and the reason most of our children drop out of school and indulge in criminal activities. Please let us all be responsible citizens,” Said Jeremiah Amisi.
