Mataara bodaboda operators have appealed to Gituamba MCA Sammy Ng’ang’a to build them sheds to shelter them from rain.
The operators regretted that the area MP Kigo Njenga has not fulfilled a promise he made to them of setting up Sh1.5 million.
They said the promise was made in January 2015 during a public baraza.
Their leader George Waiganjo, said the ongoing rains are affecting their work.
They said the MCA is the closest leader in the area who can heed to their pleas.
“Our MCA (Sammy Ngang’a) has given our football team shoes and uniforms and we believe if he is informed about our plea, he can as well build us sheds. The rains are not doing us any good,” Waiganjo said.
Speaking during Mataara bodaboda Sacco meeting at the shopping centre, the operators said they had been left out comparing to other operators from other parts of the sub-county.
“We have noted with a lot of concern that we have been left out as operators. Gatunguru, Mariaini and Gakoe operators have sheds to shelter them from the harsh weather, why not us? Sammy should intervene since Kigo has not fulfilled his promise,” said Waiganjo.
During the meeting, nine youths who are also boda boda operators were given loans not below Sh25,000 each which they were directed to pay in a period of one year.
