The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has come up with tough rules to curb motorists from committing transport offences.
NTSA will soon introduce a gadget that will enable to backtrack speed up to 72 kilometres per hour as said by the director general, Francis Meja.
Some matatus which pick people at undesignated areas other than bus termini will be fined sh3, 000. Youths who like travelling while hanging on matatu doors will be required to pay a fine of sh1, 000. As for passengers who alight at any place that is not a bus terminal will also pay sh1, 000. Those passengers who fail to wear safety belts are required to pay sh500.
For those drivers who drive around without any road signs in their cars will be penalised sh2, 000.
The board also said that drivers who are stopped by policemen should stop. Failure to do this will lead to a fine of sh5,000. If a police a driver any directions either verbally or by signs, they should obey since failure to do this will require the driver to pay sh3, 000.
