Nyamira youths affiliated to opposition CORD have warned Educating CS Fred Matiangi against drumming support for Jubilee in an early waited fund drive at Gesabakwa SDA church on Saturday.
This comes after the youths accused the church management of deliberately excluding a number of them from the list of people expected to address the gathering during the function.
Speaking on Friday, the youths accused the Jubilee faction of targeting those believed to be in opposition and warned that they will forcefully hijack the programme in case participants grace the occasion to spearhead the jubilee agenda.
“We have do not like interfering with matters to do with the church but we know what has been cooking. We still can’t comprehend why the organizers would remove names of some of us who were scheduled to speak. The CS must now stay bay from discussing politics because we are not ready to welcome Jubilee politic sin this region,” said Peter Nyairo, one of the youths.
According to them, the church organises were working with directive from above and questioned the motive of allowing a section of youths allied to Jubilee to address the function.
“We have investigated and we know that Jubilee is taking the advantage of the fund drive to rally for support. The organizers have failed to explain why they never removed names of some youths who have been working for Jubilee from the list and only targeted us. It will be important that the CS desists from introducing politics because we are not ready to allow that,” he added.
However, one of the organizers James Mwambia defended the function saying they removed a number of names due to the tight schedule of the CS.
“It was not deliberate (removal of the names) and we retained those who had reported earlier. The CS will be having only a short period here and I think he’s coming for a fundraiser and not to a political rally. Those aggrieved I think it will be important they organize for a rally elsewhere because the church doesn’t allow politics,” he said.
