Matungulu Sub-County administrator has said stern action will be taken against anyone found vandalising CCTV cameras in the area.
Speaking on Friday in his office, Victor Kiatu, said a large number of the CCTV cameras that had been installed in the sub-county by the county government have been vandalised.
Kiatu said the most affected areas were Tala and Nguluni, where almost all the CCTV cameras have been vandalised.
The administrator said the thieves usually steal the cameras and solar panels leaving the posts lying on the ground, adding that the habit is pulling back the efforts of the sub-county in ensuring security of residents.
"It is sad that several CCTV cameras in Matungulu are not working due to vandalism. Let it be known that whoever will be caught will have to face the law, said Kiatu.
The administrator said the stolen CCTV cameras and solar panels are usually sold to unsuspecting buyers, and urged business owners to be vigilant to avoid buying stolen property.
