Residents from Mavoko sub county have been urged to seek national identification cards for their own personal benefits.
Speaking to this hivisasa writer on the phone on Friday, Mavoko MP Patrick Makau said that there was dire need to keep sensitising the residents especially the youth to seek the important document which is also their constitutional right.
Makau said that majority of the youth from the region and especially those in remote rural areas such as Kivae, Kwa Mboo, Kasuitu amd parts of Kinanie villages were the most affected. He said it is important for youth from across the sub county to have the knowledge and fact that national identification cards are for their own good and advantage.
He further said that the situation had adversely contributed to joblessness among the youth from the region since they could not seek employment without the document.
Makau said that apart from missing out on employment opportunities, such youth could not benefit from various national government's initiatives such as the Youth Enterprise Development Funds.
Makau further said that the youth should desist from citing distance to relevant offices charged with processing ID's in the region as the reason why they had not sought it arguing the area provincial administration kept partnering with department of registrar of persons to conduct mobile registration exercises at locational levels across the sub county.
