Nakuru county governor H.E Kinuthia Mbugua has affirmed his commitment in fighting the sale of illicit brew in the county while at the same time regulating the use of alcohol.

Mbugua was speaking at the county headquarters in Nakuru on Friday where he presided over the unveiling of 11 sub counties Alcoholic Regulation Administration and Review Committee. The county boss said that the new committee will soon start carrying out an inspection of alcoholic licenses across the region.

"The process of licenses application has officially started. These committee members will visit all 11 sub-counties therefore all alcohol business operators should ensure they have the alcoholic licenses before mid January," the governor warned.

Mbugua also stated that each of the 11 committees in the county constituted of four members who included sub-county trade officer, sub-county public health officer, deputy county commissioner, sub-county physical planning officer and appointed residents and chaired by 11 sub county administrators who will oversee the regulation process.

"These committee will also issue licenses to different categories of applicants including General Retail Alcoholic Drinks licenses, Brewer’s Alcoholic Drinks licenses, Wholesale Alcoholic Drinks licenses, Import Alcoholic Drinks licenses, Distributor Alcoholic Drinks licenses, Manufacturers Alcoholic Drinks licenses and club alcoholic drink licenses, among others," Mbugua added.

This comes as the Nakuru governor continues his initiatives of improving the health standards of people in the region.
