Kiamaina Ward representative Samuel Kamau has denied claims of being absent from his ward and warding contracts to his close friends.
Kamau said claims being made by a section of residents are malicious and are being propagated by his opponents.
Speaking Wednesday morning during a phone interview, Kamau said he is always available in his ward office every week on Mondays and Fridays.
“I have an office in my ward from which I attend to my people on every Monday and Friday and anybody who wants to see me is free to come,” said the MCA.
“I also get in touch with my people through social media platforms and we have groups through which we engage with my people,” he added.
On the issue of influencing the issuance of contracts in his ward, Kamau said he is not involved in the tendering process as this is the work of the procurement board.
“The tendering process is the duty of the procurement board and as the MCA, I am never involved in it and there is no way I can influence the process,” he said.
Early this week, a group of youth from the ward accused Kamau of being hard to access and issuing ward contracts to his close friends.
